The speed measurement app on your mobile records the continuous data streaming speed of a file, or the download/upload speed of a file with a specific data volume or duration. You can run the test more than once and compare the results. The results are given in kilobits per second (Kbps).

For the test to be reliable, you should choose the spot in your space with the best possible network coverage, so the results aren’t significantly affected. Additional factors that may influence the results include (for example): the current level of network congestion, the time of day you perform the measurement, network cell changes due to moving your phone during the test, the number of apps installed on your phone that use data services simultaneously with the measurement, the methodology used by the speed test, etc.

Results between similar tools may vary, as each tool uses a different measurement methodology (such as different file sizes or multiple files).
