If you’re unable to send SMS messages from your mobile phone, make sure you can successfully send and receive SMS by checking the following:
A) Ensure that there are no blocking on sending or receiving messages on your line. You can check this via TOBi on live chat or by visiting a Vodafone store.
B) Check your settings based on the type of device you have:
If you have an Android device:
Make sure the RCS service (which allows you to send messages over the internet instead of regular SMS) is not activated. To check this, you’ll need to disable RCS from your device’s Settings by following these steps (steps may vary slightly depending on your device):
Open the Messages or Google Messages app
Tap the three dots (top right) or your profile picture
Select Chat Settings or Messages Settings
Choose (general) Settings
Select RCS Chats
Turn off the switch
Try sending a test SMS to your desired recipient again
If you want to re-activate the RCS service, follow the above steps and turn the switch back on at step 6.
If you have an iPhone device, also check the following:
Restart your device
Check your network connection. To send an SMS, you need a mobile network connection. If you have Wi-Fi Calling activated, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi. To send an iMessage, you need either a mobile data connection or Wi-Fi
Check if the type of message you want to send is supported
Make sure your device has enough storage space to receive images and videos
Ensure you’ve entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact
