First, you should know that once you activate your eSIM, the physical SIM card you’ve been using until now will stop working. If you have an eSIM-compatible device, all you need to do is download the My Vodafone app and follow a few simple and easy-to-understand steps to convert your physical SIM card to an eSIM.
Activating your eSIM through the My Vodafone app is completed within 12 hours. During this time, you’ll receive a series of informative SMS and emails about the progress of your order. Once your eSIM profile is successfully activated, your old SIM card will be deactivated and you’ll be able to install the eSIM profile on your device.
Below you’ll find detailed steps for activating your eSIM profile, followed by illustrated instructions to make things easier for you.
Activation Process
Make sure you have full access to all the app’s features by choosing to log in “With account.” Then, keep your mobile data on and Wi-Fi off. Next, on the app’s home page, under the “My Services” section, select “eSIM.”
On the next screen, tap “Start conversion to eSIM” and then “Continue.” You’ll receive a confirmation code via SMS; once you enter it in the corresponding field, tap “Confirm.” If the code is correct, a successful confirmation screen will appear, where you should tap “Continue.”
Next, you’ll need to choose a payment method. You’ll also need to enter your email address to receive the activation QR code. Once you confirm that you agree to the terms & conditions, tap “Pay.”
Once the transaction is complete, you’ll see a successful payment screen. At this point, your eSIM profile will begin to be created, which takes 12 hours. During this period, we’ll keep you updated on your request’s progress via SMS. When your eSIM profile is ready, you’ll receive an email for activation and your old SIM will stop working.
Ideally, open the eSIM activation email from a second device (phone or computer/tablet) so you can easily scan the QR code in the next step. In the email, select the link “Activate eSIM for number xxxxxxxxx” at the bottom. You’ll be taken to a screen where you’ll need to enter a security code: this is either your 10-digit mobile number or, if you’ve just joined Vodafone from another provider, a code you received via SMS. Then, return to the device where you want to activate the eSIM, connect to a Wi-Fi network, and scan the QR code with your device’s camera. If asked, enter the eSIM PIN code found there to complete the activation.
