Vodafone World of Difference - Winners 2014

 

In the programme’s fourth year, we received 242 applications, and we singled out the 10 applicants who worked for six months at the charity of their choice.

 

 

Fotini Avdelli


Φωτεινή Αβδελλή

 

 

Fotini Avdelli worked as Librarian at the "Network for the Child's Rights". Fotini graduated from the Department of Library & Information Systems Technological Educational  Institute of Athens.

During the programme she helped raise the number of the Network's existing library collection from 1,000 book titles to 2,500. She also contributed in increasing the number of its members from 400 to 700, through various educational programmes. 

  

Giorgos Arapoglou


Γιώργος Αράπογλου



Giorgos Arapoglou
was responsible for the management of the "Schedia" street magazine vendors network at "Diogenis NGO". Giorgos graduated from the Communication, Media & Culture Department of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.

During the programme, he extended the magazine's network of vendors from 92 to 118, ensuring income for 130 people from vulnerable social groups.

 

Nagi El Kahout


Nagi El Kahout



Nagi El Kahout
was responsible for the management of Raw materials and Meal preparation at the "Bread - Action PanHellenic Charitable association”. Nagi graduated a public college (IEK) as an IT specialist and a private college (IEK AKMI)  as a culinary specialist.

During the programme he increased the daily meal production by 30% to meet the needs of poor families and people, by distributing 292 meals on a daily basis.

 

Fanis Lekkas  


Φάνης Λέκκας



Fanis Lekkas 
worked as Coordinator of Shelter for the Homeless Programme at the Civil Nonprofit organisation "Human – People". Fanis studied Marine Engineering at Technological Educational Institute of Athens.

During the programme, he actively coordinated donations and the completion and relocation of 57 homeless into 15 apartments at the Athens Social Building.

 

Constantinos Bouyouris


Κωνσταντίνος Μπουγιούρης



Constantinos Bouyouris
worked as Organic Cultivation Agronomist at the "International Biopolitics Organisation". He graduated from the Agricultural University of Athens in crop production department, He holds also a Master in ecological agriculture at Wageningen Agricultural University in the Netherlands.

During the programme, 186 people trained to learn how to grow vegetables at their own space and cover a part of their daily nutritional needs in a cost efficient and environmentally friendly way.c

 

Marilia Paraschaki


Μαριλία Παρασχάκη

 

 

Marilia Paraschaki worked as Social Worker at the "Aghioi Theodoroi" Association for people with mental disabilities of the Prefecture of Rhodopi. Marilia graduated from the Department of Social Administration with a specialty at Social Work from Democritus University of Thrace.

During the programme she implemented a functional and social skills programme for 12 members of the Association, to help them acquire the necessary tools, in order to autonomously cope with their daily needs, at the Home of Assisted living, currently being built by the Association.

 

Maria Skiada


Μαρία Σκιάδα

 

 

Maria Skiada worked as Social Worker at the "IKE - Hadjipaterio Rehabilitation Centre of Spastic Children". Maria graduated from the School of Health and Welfare at Technological Educational Intstitute of Heraklion Crete, Department of Social Work.

 

During the programme, she supported the children and their families who found shelter at the Centre, while she also evaluated 35 new requests regarding children in need of special pedagogic and rehabilitative programme. 

 

Annie Skourleti


Άννι Σκουρλέτη

 

 

Annie Skourleti was responsible for Training and Managing the Internet platform content at the "Desmos" Association. Annie graduated from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at University of Athens, She also studied Tourism, Environment and Sustainable Development at King's College London.

 

During the programme she organized and coordinated the platform’s trial phase, which included manual compilation and training of 29 agencies, operation improvement and performance of 100 successful actual transactions, via the platform.

 

Katerina Tsakmaki


Κατερίνα Τσακμάκη

 

 

Katerina Tsakmaki worked as Social Worker at the "Women's Shelter" Support Centre for abused women. Katerina graduated from the Department of Social Administration and Social Work, at Democritus University of Thrace.

 

During the programme she provided psychosocial support to 42 young women who had suffered abuse and offered information to 134 people on services and structures, where they can turn to, depending on their needs. She also completed the content collection in view of the Centre’s manual edition entitled “Self-help manual for Abused Women”.

 

Constantina Psallida


Κωνσταντίνα Ψαλλίδα

 

 

Constantina Psallida worked as Work Counselor of the Employment Promotion department at "PRAKSIS". Constantina graduated from the Department of Social Work at Technological Educational Institute of Athens with a specialty in Social Work. During the programme she offered counseling and support to 301 people from vulnerable groups in seeking job offers.

 

More specifically, she referred 198 people to training bodies, while 31 people were offered job positions.
