Spam SMS
Vodafone
Greece does not send spam text messages to customers. Most spam is
generated by third parties, using our network to send unsolicited text
messages which often operate internationally, disregarding national
regulations. Spam messages inviting customers to call a premium rate
number or subscribe to premium rate services can be particularly
problematic and harassing. This generates revenue for the spam
originator and may mislead customers.
Examples of such text messages are:
"you have a message, call now at +227393310 or +6906410" or
"you have won a prize. Call now to claim it at +227393310 or +6906410".
In case you receive such messages similar in context and concept urging you to call an international destination please DO NOT respond. If you do receive such a message please report it to our "Customer Service Department" and then erase it.
Text messages from unknown numbers for “non existing contests”.
Following the increase number of prank or even malicious messages, this is a reminder to not respond to Text messages from unknown numbers, urging you to enter non existing contests or provide your personal data in order to win “grand prizes".
These text messages are usually from:
- Short 4 or 5 digit codes (which usually do not correspond to existing numbers)
- Telephone numbers of foreigner networks
- Or untraceable e-mail addresses
Their contexts refer to “grand prizes” you may have won and prompt you to either enter unknown sites or call numbers, which are most likely international destinations carrying increased charges and consequently resulting to inflated bills. |
